By selecting an audio driver, you allow Cubase to communicate with the audio hardware. Normally, when you start Cubase, a dialog opens that prompts you to select a driver, but you can also select your audio hardware driver as described below.Note
On Windows operating systems, we recommend that you access your hardware via an ASIO driver developed specifically for the hardware. If no ASIO driver is installed, contact the manufacturer of your audio hardware for information on available ASIO drivers. If no specific ASIO driver is available, you can use the Generic Low Latency ASIO driver.
- Select Studio > Studio Setup.
- In the Devices list, select Audio System.
- Open the ASIO Driver pop-up menu and select your audio hardware driver.
- Click OK.
Selecting a Different Audio Driver From the Start Page. If you do not see your PreSonus interface’s audio driver on the Start page when you launch Studio One, click on the 'Configure Audio Devices' link in the Setup area to open the 'Audio Setup Options' window. In the Audio Device menu, select the driver for your PreSonus interface. Go into Cubase and select 'Devices', then 'Device Setup', and finally 'VST Audio System'. Check you have the ASIO driver selected as 'Yamaha Steinberg USB Audio'. Then click one below 'VST Audio System' on left side and actually select the driver. There's the clocking options and a couple things in here. A sound card (also known as an audio card) is a computer expansion card that facilitates the input and output of audio signals to and from a computer under control of computer programs. Typical uses of sound cards include providing the audio component for multimedia applications such as music composition, editing video or audio, presentation, education, and entertainment (games). Right-click the listing for your sound card or audio device, such as headphones or speakers, select Update driver, then select Search automatically for updated driver software. Follow the instructions to complete the update. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, look for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow those instructions.
